Who is going to take the title of Sweet Young Chef 2019?

Excitement is mounting ahead of the Huletts Sweet Young Chef 2019 competition, South Africa’s most thrilling and exclusive culinary adventure for trainee chefs.  Set to take place at the InfoChef Gauteng 2019 conference, the competition is an opportunity for budding young chefs to not only put their cooking skills to the test in a gruelling three-hour challenge - but also showcase their talent among industry greats.

Famed for its pulsating finale, four finalists are given just three hours to single-handedly create their signature dish from start to finish – all in front of an audience of peers and SA Chefs accredited judges. With the clock-ticking and expectations high, will the finalists manage to impress with their preparation techniques, presentation and most of all taste? Can they keep up under nail-biting pressure and deliver the winning dish? We will have to wait and see!

Entries are open to young chefs in culinary school, who must submit their entry by 21 June 2019. Thereafter, a panel of three judges will sift through submissions and select finalists from each school. The field will then be narrowed down to four top finalists, who will be invited to participate in finale at InfoChef on 1 August 2019. There may only be one top dish - but every chef is a guaranteed winner, gaining valuable exposure, receiving constructive feedback and a Huletts Hamper.

This competition is open to all culinary students from across South Africa, aged 18 to 30 years, who can showcase the endless possibilities of baking and cooking with sugar.
